The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

Roy Oswalt (3-1, 3.22 ERA) Philadelphia Phillies

After being acquired from the Astros and making an unimpressive debut with the Phillies, Oswalt has been nothing short of spectacular ever since. He has won his last three straight starts, two of them seven-scoreless innings, with a 1.29 ERA and 20 strikeouts during that span. He even played left field in Tuesday night's 16-inning marathon against his former team.

Jamie Garcia (11-6, 2.42 ERA) St. Louis Cardinals

Garcia is coming off the best start of his career - a three-hit shutout against the Giants. More importanty, he enters today's game on five days of rest, which is critical for the left-hander's success. He has a 1.87 ERA this season when pitching on full rest.

Slumping

Tim Lincecum (11-8, 3.72 ERA) San Francisco Giants

Are you freakin' kidding me? After a Cy Young-contending start to the season, Lincecum has looked like "The Young and the Restless" in August, losing four straight starts and posting a quadruple-digit ERA of 10.38 during that stretch. The righty hasn't lasted more than 5 1/3 innings in his last three outings, giving up 22 hits and 15 earned runs in those 13 innings. Maybe it's time for a haircut.

Josh Tomlin (1-3, 3.86 ERA) Cleveland Indians

Tomlin has been hammered in his last three starts, allowing 21 hits and 11 earned runs in just 18 inings of work. The righty said he has been relying too heavily on his cut fastball, which has little life to it, at least until opposing batters put the wood to it.

Hot Lines: Today's best MLB bets

Oakland A's at Texas Rangers (-135, 8.5)

No pitching rotation has been as consistent in August as the Athletics', who entered Thursday night with a streak of 17 consecutive quality starts (at least six innings with three or fewer earned runs), one short of the 83-year-old franchise record.

"Everybody knows what they're capable of," A's starter Trevor Cahill said after extending the streak to 17 on Wednesday. "I think every time we go out there we're confident about getting a win with whoever we have on the mound, which is huge."

But if there is a weak link in the seemingly solid chain, it's Brett Anderson. He is 0-2 over his last three starts, allowing 20 hits over those 20 innings but limiting teams to only five earned runs.

The Rangers counter with Tommy Hunter, who is a perfect 6-0 in eight home starts this season with a 3.10 ERA. The A's are batting just .198 aganst righties in their last 10.

Pick: Rangers

Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds (-172, 9)

The Reds return home from a successful nine-game West Coast road swing, going 6-3 and actually gaining three games on the second-place Cardinals in the NL Central standings.

Many expected Cincinnati to stumble on its road trip, but not the Reds.

"It was weird," Cincinnati left fielder Jonny Gomes said of the road swing. "We left home in first place but totally set up to fail because of past seasons with the Reds. We didn't even leave the airport and were 0-9 in some people's minds for the trip."

Now the Reds return home, where they are 10 games over .500 this season, to face a familiar foe they have owned this season. The Reds have won eight of their last nine against the Cubs by a combined score of 69-18.

Cubs starter Tom Gorzelanny is 0-2 in three appearances against the Reds this season and the Reds are hammering lefties at a .288 clip in their last 10.

Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto is making his second start since serving a seven-game suspension and should be rested and ready to manhandle the Cubbies.

Pick: Reds

Bettors' best friend: Friday's wagering tips

Lines to keep an eye on

Redskins at Jets: Jets opened at -4 but have been bet to -5. Total pened at 33.5 but has jumped to 34.5.

Falcons at Dolphins: Dolphins opened as -2.5 favorites but this one is now a pick-em at most books. Total opened at 38 but has slipped to 37.5.

Eagles at Chiefs: This one opened as a pick-em but the Eagles are now a 2-point favorite.

Chargers at Saints: Total opened at 40.5 but has skyrocketed to 43.5 at most books.

Red Sox at Rays: Total opened at 7.5 but has dropped to 7.

Stampeders at Lions (CFL): The total opened at 56.5 but has plummeted to as low as 51 at some books.

Mystics at Dream (WNBA): Atlanta opened at -3.5 but are down to -3. Total opened at 159 and jumped to 161.

Weather to watch

Falcons at Dolphins: 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.

Who's hot

Padres are 13-3 in their last 16.

Rangers, Dodgers and Tigers are 5-1 in their last six.

Astros have won five in a row.

Who's not

Nationals are 3-13 in their last 16 vs. Cardinals.

Cubs are 1-7 in their last eight vs. Reds.

Indians are 1-7 in their last eight.

Key stat

17 - Consecutive quality starts (at least six innings pitched with three or fewer earned runs) made by Oakland A's starters entering Thursday's game, the longest by the franchise since the Philadelphia Athletics did it 18 times in a row in 1927.

Injury that shouldn't be overlooked

Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb will not play in Friday's preseason game against the New York Jets with a sprained ankle. McNabb has been wearing a walking boot for the last few days and will sit out for precautionary reasons. That means a heavy dose of the Redskins' no-name backup QB trio of Rex Grossman, John Beck and Richard Bartel against the vaunted Jets' defense. Even without facing Revis Island, the Redskins offense looks stranded.

Game of the day

Red Sox at Rays (-125, 7)

Notable quotable

"The only advice I'd give him would be something that he's probably 120 percent against. ... I wish I had come clean the day they had called me into the [commissioner's] office in 1989."

MLB's all-time hits leader Pete Rose told ESPN The Magazine about his advice for Roger Clemens regarding his indictment for perjury over steroid use. Rose is banned from the game for betting on baseball.

Tips and notes

The Red Sox's starting rotation got a makeover when Tim Wakefield got bumped into Wednesday's second game of their doubleheader against the Seattle Mariners in place of Jon Lester. The left-handed Lester will instead start in Friday's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays, replacing Daisuke Matsuzaka, who was scratched from the start with a sore lower back. In two games against the Rays this season, Lester is 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds and second baseman Brandon Phillips got some good news Thursday when X-rays on his injured wrist came back negative. Phillips has been listed as day-to-day and is expected to be available to play for this weekend's series against the Chicago Cubs. He was hurt in Wednesday's game when he was hit on the wrist by a 95 mph fastball. Phillips is batting .290 with 16 home runs and 50 RBIs this season for the Reds.

A Little Warm is the 7-2 favorite in Saturday’s $1 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. The field of 11 3-year-olds includes Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, the 6-1 third choice behind A Little Warm, and 4-1 choice Trappe Shot. A Little Warm did not run in the Triple Crown races in the spring but won the Jim Dandy Stakes on July 31. Trappe Shot had a four-race winning streak ended by placing in the Haskell Invitational on Aug. 1, where Super Saver was fourth. Afleet Again also is 6-1 in one of the last big stakes races before the Breeders' Cup.

What bettors need to know: Friday NFL preseason

Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins (-1, 37.5)

DRESS REHEARSAL

The Falcons were subpar in their 28-10 loss to the Patriots last time out, but backers will be happy to hear Atlanta’s starters are expected to play into the second half on Friday.

Head coach Mike Smith stated, “It’s the biggest tune-up in the preseason in terms of the number of snaps that our guys are going to play and we want to see them play well.”

There should be consistency at RB in the third and fourth quarters as well with Ryan Wolfe, Antone Smith, and Dmitri Nance vying for rosters spots. CBs Dunta Robinson and Brian Williams will be game-time decisions.

PRESEASON CHAMPS

The Dolphins earned their ninth straight preseason victory with a 27-26 win over Jacksonville. They were particularly impressive in the second quarter, when they scored 21 points. Chad Henne was responsible for 14 of those points going 11-for-14 for 151 yards and two TDs.

Like Atlanta, Miami is expected to give their starters a couple more snaps. Protection under center should be solid throughout with Jake Grove getting an unexpected challenge for his starting position from Joe Berger.

LINE MOVEMENT AND WEATHER

Very little movement on the spread with the game listed as a pick ’em at some books.

Thundershowers are expected for Friday’s game

Washington Redskins at New York Jets (-4.5, 34)

WHERE'D FAST WILLIE GO?

The Redskins put in two completely different performances in their preseason games exploding offensively for 42 points against the Bills and then just managing a field goal against the Ravens.

Donovan McNabb is ruled out for the game with a sprained ankle, along with FB Mike Sellers and WR Malcolm Kelly. More things change on offense as well with Willie Parker listed as the starting tailback for the game.

Parker sits behind Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and Ryan Torain on the depth chart, so Friday night is pretty much a do or die for the former Steeler.

JETS, JETS, ZZZZZ

Most people are expecting a breakout season for Gang Green this year, but that is by no means reflected in their preseason performance. They got owned against the Giants in the battle of the new stadium and squeezed past Carolina, 9-3.

Coach Rex Ryan stated that he will be treating this game as a dress rehearsal with the first team not expected to play much next week against the Eagles.

“This will be the last preseason game with the starters I mean, we’ll get a series against Philly, probably, maybe a little longer than that but not much,” Ryan told reporters. “This will be a big test for us.”

LINE MOVEMENT AND WEATHER

The line opened up at -3.5 in favor of the Jets and it has seen movement up to -5 at some books. This probably is based off McNabb’s absence.

Clear skies and a high of 77 are expected by kickoff.

San Diego Chargers at New Orleans Saints (-3. 42.5)

STRAIGHT OUT OF CROMPTON

It’s unclear how long Phillip Rivers will be in for the Chargers, some sources say just for a quarter. So backers will have to rely on Johnathan Crompton and Billy Volek to lead the charge (pun intended)? Both have been mediocre in preseason. Volek has a 46.2 percent completion rate, while Crompton has thrown for two interceptions in just 17 pass attempts.

WHO DOES NO. 2 WORK FOR?

The Saints looked sharp against the Texans, with 28 of their 38 points coming in the first half. Backup QB Chase Daniel was solid in that game passing for 182 yards and three TDs.

But Saints coach Sean Payton indicated that Tulane alum Patrick Ramsey could see the majority of snaps.

“This week when Drew (Brees) finishes, we’ll give the majority – if not all – of the reps to Patrick (Ramsey).”

Payton said yes when asked if there was a genuine competition for the No. 2 QB spot.

LINE MOVEMENT AND WEATHER

The spread sits between -3 and -3.5 in favor of the Saints. Both Saints preseason games have gone over prompting of move of 40.5 to 42.5 on the total.

Rain is expected on Friday which should put a hamper on tailgaters’ plans and those stuck outside without tickets.

Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs (+1, 37)

PROMOTION DAY

Philly coach Andy Reid laid out his rotation for the game, stating that the starters would play three quarters and the backups with take up the fourth. Expect extra motivation on defense with the rookies. FS Nate Allen and DE Brandon Graham were recently promoted to the first team.

Not much can be said about Philadelphia’s game against Cincinatti except for the fact that David Akers’s job is safe for the regular season. The 35-year-old kicker scored all of the points in a 22-9 loss, but backers can put a bit more confidence in the Eagles with this being “the” key tune-up game.

RB Mike Bell, who hasn’t played in any preseason games, is expected to suit up on Friday.

BATTLE ROYAL

Most of the attention will be on the pre-game ceremonies with Friday’s contest marking the opening of the New Arrowhead stadium, but this is a critical game for players on the bubble.

Todd Haley suggested that the starters would play three quarters, but he did seem to hint that more time would be given to those fighting for positions.

“There are some guys that I maybe feel a little more secure about and some others for one reason or another, whether it’s just getting snaps under their belt, experience or for evaluation purposes that may go longer,” the Kansas City coach told reporters.

One defense the key battle is for the two MLB spots in Rommeo Crennel’s 3-4 defense, which has Corey Mays, Demorrio Wiliams, Derrick Johnson, and Jovan Belcher all competing for a spot. A new tug of war also emerged at DE between Tyson Jackson and Wallace Gilberry.

On offense, there is no doubt that Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles will split carries in the regular season, but they will still both be aggressively fighting for that No. 1 spot on Friday.

LINE MOVEMENT AND WEATHER

Both the total and the spread have seen little movement throughout the week, but popular opinion lies with the Eagles. The Chiefs are on a nine-game preseason ATS losing streak. The Eagles have hit the over eight times in their last nine preseason games.

Clear skies and a high of 86 are expected.

Lady Luck: Today's WNBA best bet

Washington Mystics at Atlanta Dream (-3, 161)

These two teams meet for the third time in six days, with the Mystics winning 90-81 in the regular-season finale in Atlanta on Sunday and the Dream turning the tables in Game 1 in D.C. on Wednesday with a 95-90 victory.

Despite the split with the visitors winning on the other's home court, the one constant in this matchup has been offense. The Dream shot 53.5 percent from the field in Wednesday night's win and scored 48 first-half points.

"I was very disappointed with our defensive effort,'' Washington coach Julie Plank said after the game. "You can't give up 95 points. I don't care if it's regular season, definitely not the playoffs. ... They pretty much got whatever they wanted.''

Neither side seems to have an answer for the others' top players. Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry, Coco Miller and Iziane Castro Marques combined to score 68 on 27-for-45 shooting from the field Wednesday while Washington's Crystal Langhorne, Katie Smith and Lindsey Harding tallied 50.

Four of their five meetings have gone over the total this season, but it's not just when they play each other. Over is 10-4 in the Mystics' last 14 road games and 7-1 in the Dream's last eight against Eastern Conference foes.

Hondo

Hondo managed to stop the bloodshed last night when he cashed with the Tigers and Twins to more than offset his loss with the Mets and reduce the deficit to 1,765 grimms.

Tonight, Mr. Aitch will give Reds and Astros fans a break by slapping the Kiss of Death on the Cubs and Metamucils. Ten units apiece on Gorzelanny and Pelfrey.
